We landed, got to the hotel and drove to the Pilanesburg National Park without incident. I having a bit of a situation with uploading pictures, but hopefully, that will be resolved tomorrow. The group is on safari and we will have great pictures to upload for you at the latest tomorrow. The weather is a warm 80 degrees with no humidity and I have heard that the east coast in the grips of a snow storm. (so sorry my friends--I wish I could be there to help you shovel--uh...well....maybe that's a bit of an overstatement) But, I do feel your pain....Stay tuned and I hope to have some pictures tonight.
Safari
ReplyDeleteThe dust did not get a chance to settle under our feet. Shortly after landing in South Africa, we hit the ground running! We were off to the Pilanesberg National Park for our safari experience. It was such a gorgeous day! The weather was warm and sunny and Brian described the weather as a "perfect" day for going on a safari. We were fortunate on our game drive to see elephants, impala, wildebeast, wart hogs, zebras, giraffe, and kudo. We saw vervet monkeys jumping up and down the trees. We even glimpsed a leopard (way way way) out in the distance! All was well....
However, the temperature dropped quickly and the sky started to darken. Soon rain drops were unapologetically pelleting the open safari truck. Although we put on ponchos and were wrapped in blankets, it was no match for the wind and the pouring rain. We all were wet!
Despite it all, I can say that it was truly and awesome experience. What other time in my life will I ever be able to say that I was on an safari in South Africa in the pouring rain?
Pictures, pictures, pictures...please share your experiences with those of us back home in the snow and ice.
ReplyDeleteHope everyone is doing well and having fun.
